Matar paneer is a delicious dish made by cooking paneer and peas in a Tikka Masala Curry. This recipe will give you a restaurant style creamy and rich matar paneer. It tastes amazing to serve with rice or garlic naan bread.
RECIPE CALLS FOR
Tikka Masala Spice Paste
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp ginger, minced
- 2 tbsp garlic, minced
- ½ jar Patak’s® Tikka Masala Spice Paste
- 2 ½ cups of water, divided
- ⅛ cup tomato, chopped
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 block (400 g) paneer cut into cubes
- ½ cup frozen peas
- Salt, to taste
- ½ cup heavy cream (+ more for garnish)
- Fresh coriander, chopped (garnish)
- Heat the oil in the multifunction pressure cooker on “Sauté” setting.
- Add the cumin seeds and allow to sizzle.
- Add the onion and cook until light brown.
- Add the ginger and garlic and cook for 1 min.
- Add the Patak’s® Tikka Masala Spice Paste and ½ cup of water, and sauté for 1 min. Cook until most of the water has evaporated.
- Add the tomatoes and tomato paste, and cook for 2 min.
- Add the remaining 2 cups of water, paneer and peas, and cook for 10 min.
- Add the cream and cook for 2 min.
- Season to taste. Garnish with cream and coriander.
